A quarterly AI governance check for your IT support clients
If your clients are asking what they should do about AI, most of the questions are about governance: which tools staff may use, what data must stay out of them, and whether anything has changed since the last review. This page sets out how an IT support firm or MSP can turn those questions into a regular check for each client, and what Z3nith offers for free today.
What clients are asking their IT support about AI
These are the governance questions that come up when a small business starts to use AI.
- Which AI tools staff can use. A client may want a short list of approved tools and a rule for anything new.
- What data must stay out of them. Client names, financial figures and personal data need clear rules, and the data terms of a free consumer version of a tool can differ from the business version.
- Who has AI features switched on. Software a client already pays for may include AI features, so it's worth checking who can use them and what they can see.
- Whether anything has changed since the last review. New tools, new staff and new features can make last quarter's answer out of date.
How a quarterly AI governance check works
The check is easier to sell and to deliver when it has the same three steps every quarter.
- Agree a written AI usage policy with the client. Our free AI policy template drafts one in plain English for the client to edit and adopt, and it's a starting point rather than legal advice.
- Score where the client stands. The free Z3nith scan gives a headline AI readiness score out of 100 from what the business publishes, in about 60 seconds.
- Review both each quarter. Check the policy against how staff actually use AI, and compare the new score with the last one.
The scan and the policy template are free. Automatic re-scoring every three months is paid.
Cyber Essentials version 3.3 applies from 27 April 2026. The National Cyber Security Centre says that if an organisation's data or services are hosted on cloud services, these services must be in scope, and that cloud services cannot be excluded from scope. AI tools your clients use are often cloud services, so they may fall in scope, and it is worth checking that with each client. See the NCSC Cyber Essentials resources.
What the free scan gives you for each client
Paste a client's website address into the free scan, and in about 60 seconds you'll have a results page with a headline score out of 100.
The free scan reads what the company publishes, which means its website and, where we can match it, its Companies House record. It scores three dimensions directly from what's visible and estimates the other four. It's free and needs no credit card or sign-up.
If a client wants the full picture, they can buy the Standard report (£49, one-time), which verifies all seven dimensions through a 19-question assessment and comes with a PDF. Premium (£149, one-time) adds an AI implementation roadmap, ROI projections and a board-ready one-page summary. No VAT is charged on either.
Run the check under your firm's name
We're building a partner programme for firms that advise UK businesses, including IT support providers, and it isn't open yet. It's designed to let you offer Z3nith AI readiness assessments to your clients under your own brand and logo, with one dashboard that tracks every client's score so you can see who is improving. We're onboarding founding partners now, and you can register your interest on the partner page.

- Can I offer Z3nith to my clients under my own brand?
- That's what the Z3nith partner programme is for. The partner page shows whether it's open: you can apply when it is, and register your interest until then. In the meantime you can run the free scan on any client's website.
- What does the Z3nith free scan check?
- You paste a company's website address and get a headline score out of 100 in about 60 seconds. The scan reads the company's website and, where it can match it, its Companies House record. It scores three dimensions directly and estimates four. It's free and needs no credit card.
- Does the client have to do anything for the free scan?
- No. The free scan only uses what the company publishes, so you can run it with just their website address and the client doesn't need to sign up.
- Is the quarterly re-score free?
- No. The scan and the AI policy template are free, and you can run the free scan again yourself. Automatic re-scoring every three months is Z3nith Track, a paid add-on to a Standard or Premium report.
- Does the AI policy template replace legal advice?
- No. It drafts a plain-English AI usage policy for the client to edit, and where the draft talks about personal data, it links to the ICO's own guidance. It's a starting point rather than legal advice.
